I'd go to Seattle.
And then proceed to work as if I wasn't on vacation.

Mr. the Rabbit, are you insinuating something? I thought I told you that I'm not responsible for the questions unless they have a brown background.

Just a question but how does the warning system work?

Shard, June 29th, 2015, 11:21 am

@ThatOneSpriter- The 'Late List' isn't a warning system so much as a time limit. We don't exactly like people being inactive in AQOC, so if you haven't updated for five weeks you'll be kicked out. Naturally, this means that updating will reset your counter. This counter is largely invisible, aside from in two places - one, the document where I keep track of this stuff, and two, when you haven't updated for three weeks in a row. At that point, I will post in the "Late List" author comment who needs to post an update in what time frame (two weeks or one week). To get off of it, all you have to do is post an update to answer the question.

Of course, if something comes up, that's what the Exception List is for. If you believe you won't be able to update for an unforeseen amount of time, you can ask to be put on that list, and generally I'll put you on it until you've posted an update again. Of course, to avoid people just saying that and having me put them on it to hold a spot forever, I periodically check people's comics to see if they're updating those but not AQOC - if you can update your own work, you can set aside some time to make a two-panel update to answer a question. The exception to that exception is if you specifically say something like "I need to take time to focus on (INSERT COMIC HERE) but I'd like to answer questions again when I've (INSERT TASK REQUIRING FOCUS HERE)", upon which I'll ignore that clause. I also usually kick people out of the comic if they've been on the exception list for too long, but that's to make room for new blood, and us having open spaces means I haven't been doing that.

There is a warning system, but that's only if you break the rules. For example, uploading an answer after the new question has gone up, posting an answer to a question that doesn't answer the question, or posting something absurdly offensive or that warrants being taken down for some or other reason- things like that, really- will cause you to get a warning. If a page you post causes this, it will be taken down, I will PM you as to why it has been, and inform you that you now have one. This is a "three strikes" system - if you get three warnings, you get kicked out, no matter where you are on the late or exception list. Also, being kicked out in this manner means you don't get to reapply, because compulsive rule breaking isn't fun.

I... hope that covered anything you wanted to know. If you need clarification feel free to ask.

@ThatOneSpriter: Also, if you consistently only update once every five weeks, to the point where it seems like you're only updating to cling to the spot you have in the comic then we'll also consider kicking you out, but that's on a case-by-case basis.

On the topic of Authors...I just noticed that the profile says there's one spot open, where the Author requirements says there's two.

So, yeah.

ThatOneSpriter, June 30th, 2015, 2:24 am

@Shard: Uhh wow that covered a lot and I think I get the gist of how the system works, thanks!
@The Magnificent Z: That's pretty smart, I can see how one can cheat the system like that if you only update once every 5 weeks.
